Hearing Aid Financing FAQs
Common questions about paying for hearing aids at Optimum Audiology: what they cost, how Cherry and CareCredit work, what insurance covers, and using FSA or HSA funds.
The hearing aid cost depends on your hearing loss, the style you choose, and the technology level. We work with all major manufacturers, including Starkey, ReSound, Phonak, Oticon, Signia, and Widex, and each offers several levels, so there are options for most budgets.
We don't quote a price until we've tested your hearing and talked about where you struggle to hear. Then we go over your options plainly before anything is ordered. Your fitting includes Real Ear Measurement, and follow-up visits in the first month help fine-tune your settings. Call or text (760) 503-1700 to schedule a hearing evaluation.
Cherry is a patient payment plan that lets you split the cost of hearing aids into monthly payments. The application takes about 60 seconds and there's no hard credit check, so applying won't hurt your credit score. 0% APR options are available for qualifying patients.
Once approved, you choose a payment schedule that fits your budget and use it toward hearing aids and related care at any of our four offices. Approval and terms are set by Cherry, not by our office. Ask about Cherry when you call or text (760) 503-1700, and our team will walk you through the steps.
It depends on your plan. Many private and Medicare Advantage plans include a hearing aid benefit or allowance, while others cover only the hearing evaluation. Original Medicare does not pay for hearing aids, though it may cover a diagnostic hearing evaluation in some cases.
We accept most major insurance plans, and our billing team will verify your benefits and explain what's covered before your first appointment. Veterans may be covered through VA Community Care, and federal workers with job-related hearing loss may qualify through OWCP. If your plan leaves a balance, Cherry or CareCredit can spread it out. Call or text (760) 503-1700 with your insurance card handy.
CareCredit is a health care credit card you can use for hearing care, including hearing aids, exams, and repairs. You apply online, and if approved, you can use the card at our offices in Apple Valley, Jess Ranch, La Verne, or Visalia. CareCredit offers promotional financing, such as no-interest plans when the balance is paid in full within the promotional period.
Longer fixed-rate plans are available for larger purchases. Approval and terms come from CareCredit, not our office. You can apply at carecredit.com before your visit. Some patients compare it with Cherry to see which plan fits their budget best.
Usually, yes. Hearing aids, batteries, and many repairs count as qualified medical expenses, so Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account dollars can generally be used. Some patients combine FSA or HSA funds with an insurance benefit to lower what they pay out of pocket.
Rules and limits vary by plan and may reset each year, so check with your plan administrator about eligibility and deadlines. Most hearing aid purchases also include a trial period, which gives you time to make sure they work for you. Call or text (760) 503-1700 with questions.
