Starkey has five decades of innovation.
Starkey had very humble beginnings when it originally started as a hearing aid repair shop. Thefocus is not just manufacturing hearing aids, it's improving the hearing lives of people around the world. Starkey has built their company by creating the most advanced Research and Development department in the industry. This allows them to continue to make life-changing advances year after year. Starkey was the first to include in-canal hearing aids, the first CIC hearing aid, the first hearing aid with nanotechnology and the first real-ear measurement integrated directly into a hearing device.
The latest innovations in hearing aid design allowed for a comfortable and clear listening experience while eliminating some of the most frustrating characteristics of older hearing aids. For the first time ever, hearing aids became virtually feedback-free with proprietary feedback algorithms. The nanotechnology also allowed incorporation of automatic telephone recognition across a full line of hearing aids. At the Starkey Hearing Research Center the researchers explore the medical and technological breakthroughs of the future. Research conducted at the Center is focused on two primary tracks: auditory perceptual science — how the auditory system perceives sound — and signal processing technology — how hearing aids can modify sound to enhance auditory perception. Working with leading researchers and universities around the world, Starkey continues to seek ways to better understand the science of hearing loss and its impact on auditory perception and cognition, so they can continue developing the technology to improve it.
The Starkey Livio Edge AI is the world’s first Healthable hearing aid with artificial intelligence and embedded sensors. Livio Edge AI addresses the deep connection between hearing health and overall health. It empowers you to have access to life-changing features and sound quality that, until now, was never possible in a hearing aid. Livio Edge AI takes our industry leading sound performance to new heights, providing you with instantaneous adjustments for the most challenging listening situations. With a simple tap, the artificial intelligence inside the hearing aids scans the environment and makes changes on the spot to help you when you need it most, including making it easier to hear people who are wearing face masks.
A growing body of evidence points to a connection between hearing health and overall health. People who treat their hearing loss not only hear better, but may lower their risk for serious health issues such as cognitive decline and dementia. Staying active is key to staying healthy. Tracking steps and movement has been shown to inspire continuing or increasing activity. Fall Detection and Alerts Designed to help you stay independent, falls can be detected and alert messages sent to selected contacts. This is all part of the Smart Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology available to LIvio product users.
The Livio comes in all sizes, from BTE, RIC, Custom CIC, ITC, ITE and HS sizes. All the Livio products are compatible with smart phones and have accessory devices to help you to hear the sound more clearly for television, conference rooms and remote learning. Elegant and discreet, Starkey Livio is available in 8 different colors to blend with your skin tone and hair color, or you can select a stylish accent color of your choice.
The Thrive Hearing Control app works seamlessly with Livio, Livio AI and Livio Edge AI to give you complete control of your hearing aids. You can change settings easily, quickly adjust volume, create customized memories and stream music or phone calls with the touch of a button. The Thrive APP incorporates various benefits to the user such as a translate function which instantly translates a foreign language speech into your language right into the hearing aids. It also allows for a “find my phone” which uses a thrive assistant, not unlike Siri, and your hearing aids, so you can locate a lost or misplaced phone by having it ring. It also has a mask mode which is a custom memory that boosts certain frequencies to help you better hear people who are wearing face masks.
Starkey has rechargeable options for RIC, BTE and Custom products. Starkey is first to provide access to custom rechargeable hearing aids. Custom means the hearing aid is custom molded to fit your unique ear canal comfortably and securely. And they won’t get tangled or pulled off when wearing or removing face masks. Multiple color options allow you to be discreet or show off your new in-ear device.
Tinnitus is different for every patient so Starkey provides a Multiflex Tinnitus Technology with personalization and flexibility in mind. This technology was designed to seamlessly integrate into most tinnitus treatment strategies. The tinnitus technology embedded in the Livio hearing aids gives Optimum Audiology an unprecedented ability to uniquely generate a sound stimulus that provides the greatest relief:
We start with a “best-fit” tinnitus algorithm which intelligently sets the tinnitus stimulus according to the patient’s audiogram.
Then we individualize the 16 bands of frequency adjustments and Starkey’s flexible modulation algorithm to make it easy to shape the stimulus to fit your unique tinnitus experience.
Finally, SoundPoint Tinnitus allows you to become an active partner in fine-tuning the stimulus to your precise preference, which helps ensure greater success.
Enables easy audio streaming and one-on-one conversations in noisy environments.
Enjoy one-on-one conversations in noisy environments by clipping it to your conversation partner’s clothing.
Easily stream audio from your TV or other electronic audio source directly to your hearing aids.
Easily control memory and volume, mute your hearing aids and turn other special features on and off.
Make group settings easy with eight built-in microphones that stream the primary speaker’s voice to your hearing aids
Starkey is a great product because it is an American Owned and Operated Company and is privately held and owned by William Austin who has been in the hearing industry for over 50 years. He was a pioneer of hearing aid repairs and finding ways to help others hear in all environments. He is a believer in hearing care for everyone and has a foundation called Starkey Hearing Foundation that was set up to allow those who can’t afford hearing aids to obtain hearing aids through generous donations of celebrities and in the idea that one hearing aid purchased here in the United States is a portion donation towards someone who can’t afford hearing aids.
Kristi Mendoza, Au.D., owner of and audiologist for Optimum Audiology, was an Outside Sales Executive for Starkey prior to starting her own practice in Apple Valley in 2015, and has extensive experience with Starkey hearing aids. Starkey is known for their ability to help more significant hearing losses by providing excellent feedback cancellation and widened frequency responses and enhanced clarity, as well as excellent customer service and product quality and durability.
